PBB Terms and Conditions – Section 1 – Use of PBB Services:
General Privacy and Data Sharing Terms
Definitions
- "PBB" means NEW ZEALAND PERFORMANCE BEEF BREEDERS LIMITED (Company No. 828210)
- "Associated Breed Society" means any breed society that consumes services from PBB.
- "Personal Information" has the meaning given in the Privacy Act 2020
- Introduction
By engaging PBB to provide services, you acknowledge and agree to these terms regarding the collection, use, and sharing of your personal information. - Purpose of Collection
PBB collects your personal information (name, address, phone, email, and related contact details) to provide genomic, design, registry, administration, and related services to breed societies, farmers, and industry stakeholders, and to support general marketing initiatives, reporting and analysis including:
- Contacting you for PBB communications
- Inviting you to participate in programs or events
- Providing you with information on new or existing products and services, news, and events
- Sharing of Contact Information with Associated Breed Societies
Where PBB provides services to an Associated Breed Society, and you are a member of that breed society, PBB may share your contact details with that society for:
- Contacting you for society communications
- Inviting you to participate in breed-related programs or events
- Providing you with information on genetics, herd management, or breed improvement initiatives
- Limited and Purpose-Specific Sharing
PBB shares only the minimum information necessary for the stated purpose. Information will not be used for commercial marketing by anyone without your additional written consent. - Your Rights
You have the right to request access to the personal information PBB holds about you, and to request correction of any errors. You may also withdraw your consent to the sharing of your contact information at any time by contacting PBB in writing at info@pbbnz.com - Data Security
PBB and its Associated Breed Societies are required to manage your data securely and in accordance with the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020. Shared information will not be disclosed further without your explicit consent unless required by law. - Updates to These Terms
These terms may be updated from time to time. Any material changes will be communicated to you, and your continued use of PBB’s services will be deemed acceptance of the updated terms.
PBB Terms and Conditions – Section 2 - DNA Data Use & Privacy Policy
- Purpose of DNA Data Use
By submitting DNA samples through PBB NZ Ltd ("PBB") or by engaging PBB to facilitate DNA testing, you acknowledge and agree that the resulting DNA profiles (including genotype data) may be used by PBB and its authorised providers for the following purposes:

- Parentage Verification and Discovery: Verification and discovery of biological parentage through database comparison
- Identification of genetic traits or conditions: Assessment of genetic traits and conditions as requested, and in accordance with breed registration requirements.
- Genetic Evaluation Programs: Contribution to breed evaluation systems (e.g., BREEDPLAN) where aligned with breed society requirements.
- Quality Assurance and Data Integrity: Validation of pedigree records and registry accuracy.
Please note that data will only be shared with a breed society if you are a member of that breed society.
- Storage & Reuse of DNA Data
- DNA profiles are securely stored in reference databases
- Data may be reused for parentage verification and cross-referencing
- Retention periods align with operational needs and legal requirements
- Data use remains consistent with original testing purposes and breed society relationships
- Privacy and Consent
- All DNA data will be handled in accordance with the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020.
- You have the right to request access to the DNA information associated with your animals and may withdraw consent for future use by notifying PBB in writing, noting that withdrawal may impact services such as registration, future parentage verification, or genetic evaluations.
- Third-Party Access
- DNA data may be shared with authorised laboratories, breed societies, or technical partners (e.g. BREEDPLAN, or other genomic evaluation providers) for the specific purposes outlined above, in accordance with any consents granted or as permitted under the regulations of the governing breed society.
- Raw DNA data will not be used for unrelated commercial purposes without your explicit consent.
